Okay, here it is...the gear list! Every hiker obsesses about their gear, and I am no exception. Although I am a little sick of it after nerding out about it for the last 6 months. Still, what's a hiker's journal without a list of the stuff they're taking? This is for posterity, right?

Wow, now that I write that all out...it feels like I am taking a ton of shit with me, but believe it or not, everything you see here only weighs about 14 lbs! It is by far the lightest setup I have ever hiked with, so for me it feels very comfortable. There are plenty of things I could've done to refine the list and drop a few ounces here or there. But in the end I decided it was worth it to me to have a little extra weight in exchange for the extra comfort. Plus, I know my list will naturally refine itself as I hike and learn what works for me and what doesn't. |
